We just got our computer back from the computer repair guy (yet again...) We decided to go ahead and just buy a new computer just in case this one fails completely. But now I can finally update you on what has been going on since our last post!
In case you hadn't heard, the Queen of England just celebrated her Diamond Jubilee - celebrating 60 years on the throne! The only other English monarch in the United Kingdom's history that also had a diamond jubilee was Queen Victoria (which was in 1897!)
So, we decided to really join in the festivities and we headed down to London for the jubilee weekend!
On our way to London
Kazoo marching band at the festival
Waiting to see some princesses!
Can you name them all?
M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!
Going for a quick swim in the hotel pool
The next morning we followed the crowds towards the Thames River to see the pageant, and most importantly, the Queen!
We had to wait a while for the boats to start coming
The Belfry Boat kicked it off!
Queens boat - the Royal Family is in the center
Got caught in the rain on the way back to the train station. We created a makeshift rain cover for Ainsley from a poncho
Back in Bury St Edmunds, the celebrations continued. At the Abbey (old monastery built in 11th century) they had a children's Jubilee celebration. I walked there with the girls but Myla fell asleep on the way. Ainsley thoroughly enjoyed watching all the races and seeing all the games going on around her though!
It was so neat to be able to be a part of this historic event!
