Time Travelers Go!

Thursday, August 23, 2012

We took a trip back in time today by going to Framlingham Castle for their Time Travelers Go...Medieval event that they had going on this week.

The picture below shows Myla making some new friends. She walked up to them and said, "Hey, boys!" I think I'm going to be in trouble some day...

Crossbow practice

While everyone else is busy building the castle, Myla is only concerned about getting in. What can I say, she is a princess.

My Shining Stars

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Something that you should know about my daughter, Myla, is that she likes to perform. So, tonight when she told me to sit down because she was going to sing me a song, I decided to grab my camera so that you could enjoy it too!

Here is her rendition of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider"

She likes to use the bedpost as a microphone. Too funny!

Tonight is our last night without daddy so we did one more girls night with movie and popcorn. Myla picked out Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

And to spotlight Ainsley a little bit, here she is getting her groove on to one of the songs from the movie!

It's funny that Myla sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider song, because I had a little visit from a NOT so itsy bitsy spider...

I put my shoe next to it so you could estimate the size - and that is his post-smashed size! After I put the girls down for the night I was cleaning up the living room and found him under the coffee table. Eek! Please, someone remind me why they don't kill spiders here? They really don't! I have to go to the commissary to get spider spray because they do not sell it in the English stores! The closest thing I've found is a "non-harmful spider repellent spray." And now there is a serious spider problem (for me at least).

Hope you enjoyed the videos! :)

Zoo Day!

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Today the girls and I decided to venture out a little bit and we visited Colchester Zoo. I joined a few other military wives from Lakenheath and their kids. I have to say I was very impressed with this zoo; it had so many animal exhibits, lots of places to eat, fun things for kids like facepainting and play yards, and it had easy pathways to follow. Here are some snapshots from our zoo day!

This is real sand!

A surprise trip through the Lemur exhibit!

Ainsley slept through a lot of our zoo visit, but she could hardly control her excitement when she did see the animals! Myla fell asleep right before we left so she didn't get to say goodbye to her friends. When she woke up when we got home she started crying and said, "Where are my friends? I want my friends back!" So sad, but so sweet!

End of Summer

Monday, August 20, 2012

Summer is really flying by! Everyone is already talking about the new school year that is starting up within a matter of days. I can't believe that it will be Myla heading off to school in January!

Before I can go on, I want to say that the world lost a wonderful person this past week. Matt's grandmother, Barbara McKelvey "Grandma Barbie-doll", passed away last Thursday. She is greatly missed by all her wonderful family and friends, but I know that she is happy and healed, and she is looking down on her family and feeling the love they have for her. I have been blessed to know her for the past five years.

This is a picture of us together this past March, before we moved to England.

And here are two pictures of Grandma Barbie-doll with each of our daughters as babies

                                                              We love you!!

We have not had any grand trips yet since Italy, but we have done several fun things in the area.

We celebrated Pioneer Day at our church and Myla participated in a potato sack (pillow) race. Unfortunately, when they blew the whistle for the kids to go, Myla stayed at the starting line and hid her face in her pillow. Oh well, she still got a medal for it!

Here are some more summer-fun moments:
